From Parandrus to Picasso

December 25, 2020 by Simon Robinson Leave a Comment

The proud parents showed us her sketch and we were taken aback. This was back in early September. Then, a few days later, we were talking about it while hill walking during one of the inter-pandemic lockdown respites. We talked with the artist about her sketch and how art can involve many media. We joined the artist sketching smiley faces on soft slates with hard glacial dropstones and left the faces by the trail to cheer other walkers.

Careless Ruthlessness

This Day Last Year

November 7, 2020 by Simon Robinson Leave a Comment

This is a panoramic shot of Kew Gardens taken while I was standing outside the Palm House which had just closed before we got there. Our own fault, we had arrived at Kew Gardens too late but a kind ticket collector took pity on us and let us in. As she advised, everything was closed. And all the people we encountered were walking towards the exit.

Freedom Brings Anxiety

October 28, 2020 by Simon Robinson Leave a Comment

Our media are showing restaurants and bars, cinemas and sports. There is an emphasis on we are missing. On the face of it, the global media appear to be pandering to and reinforcing our anxieties.

It’s that time of year again!
