Day 20: Dictation fails worse

October 2, 2023 by Simon Robinson 1 Comment

Day 20: Dictation fails worse - bike in front of graffiti

Sometimes you have to wonder about voice-to-text dictation technology. This is why I tap-type, one fingered on my iPhone. But sometimes I try dictating just to see how the technology has improved since we bought Dragon NaturallySpeaking in 1997. I’ll let you decide.

“I think the Italians gather from Dayle. When I say, good morning, either Buongiorno Ward, Abby, I get a response, always with Harvey on the right hand comes up slightly Pam expose. Good morning Wilson, hello. I’m recording in Kazakhstan, July. 40 in the shares. 11 story apartment. Our neighbours air drying, sturgeon fillets on their balconies. No windows. No air-conditioning. My Russian colleagues had an answer. Ring Codka. It’s caviar from Volgograd. It all tastes office. Everything smells of fish.

In the village we pass through today, the man smiles with his eyes, he came with a dog from a house between two other houses piles of manure this home. This is an agricultural. Small, but he had a twinkle in his eye for me.

As for Tilly, drivers and association about how they drive. It’s wrong. the problem is us I believe will attended driver use the road to be given a test that would be more effective, then showing Italians who is up to our paragraph.

Bill, Jos, binary, little liar, liar liar.
How was your partner van? imagine that smell on speaker.”

Here are a couple of no-clues for you.
I think the Italians gather from Dayle – I think the Italians get a raw deal.
always with Harvey on the right hand comes up slightly Pam expose – usually with Ave, the right hand comes up, right palm exposed
Bill, Jos, binary, little liar, liar liar – Belgioioso’s binary IOIO.

Reminds me of the Pseud’s Corner segment in Private Eye. I know it’s not the same as when people send in the most pretentious sounding material they can find in print. But it’s on a par, isn’t it?

As for an update on the progress of the cyclegrims towards Rome, they did another 88 km today from Pavia passing through Belgioioso, Lombardy en route to Fiorenzuola d’Arda where they relaxed for the night in the Mathis hotel. It was 29 centigrade but you know all this because you are following us on Instagram, right?

I think I prefer your one finger typing to the incomprehensible voice to text. Food looks delicious and your blue, blue skies. Keep up your great cycling achievements.
