The ten-year-old me was taught to evaluate photographic composition from film strip negatives. Similarly, digital tone curve inversions challenge my perceptions of my contemporary images.
Luigi Ghirri wrote that photography can ‘simultaneously approach the frontier of the already seen and that of the never seen’.
I use inverted images to assist me in exploring those frontiers.
All of the photographs in this edition are recropped from inverted images I used in scarf designs produced in 2019.
